Movement Mosaic- April 26th Daylong Retreat
9:45 am - 4:00 pm Bolinas, CA
Join us for a daylong retreat of somatic inquiry through movement and dance. Somatic means “in the body,” and movement is one of the ways we process emotions through the body. The root of the word emotion means “to stir energy”, in other words to move energy. The stories we believe and hold about ourselves and the world are also forms of energy. These stories are reflected through our bodies in our posture, movement, and form, the language of what we embody. Emotions come as sensations through our bodies to be felt and witnessed, and then they find their way to move through and out in the form of release. This daylong Movement Mosaic retreat will help us to unearth and process our internal energy through mindful movement and somatic experiences informed by Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong. We can learn to express and move through both challenging and beautiful emotions, as they live as energy in our bodies just as they do in nature. In nature everything has a natural rhythm, cycle and flow to it, a balance of life, death, and renewal. Our emotions want to cycle in that same way, to be felt and given life, to be released, to die, and to renew, creating ourselves anew through that process of flow and release.
The experience takes place both outdoors and indoors with the ocean breeze and pacific waves as a backdrop and includes:
